Introduction

In this step you will log into your account and learn how to navigate in your account menus and submenus.  To log into your account you will need your License Number and Password. You received your license number and password when you purchased your licenses at the workshop. Logging into your account requires the License Number and Password printed on your Active Merchant Receipt (AMR). The Active Merchant Receipt is found in your Complete Store Building Packet. If you have already logged into your account and changed your password, you may skip to step 4 of activity 3.
Activity 1: Identify Your License Number and Password
Open your Complete Store Building Packet and take out the Active Merchant Receipt (AMR).

Take out the AMR and identify your License Number and Password.

Activity 2: Log in to Your Account

1. Connect to the Internet.
2. Launch your Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
3. Within the browser, type http://www.storesonlinepro.com into the URL area (or Address bar; see below) and press Enter on your keyboard. Or click here to go to the StoresOnline Pro homepage.

4. Click the Build Your Store image in the right-side portion of the screen (see below).

5. When you click the Build Your Store image, you will be directed to a page asking for your License Number and Password.
6. Type your License Number and Password into the appropriate fields (see below for an example). Click the Login button.

7. Now that you have typed in the password, you will be asked to choose a new password that you can remember. Give your account a new password and confirm the new password in the appropriate fields (see below).

Your password must contain a minimum of six characters. Ideally, it should contain a combination of letters, numbers, and keyboard symbols (*, @, $, and #); however, it cannot contain special characters that are not part of the standard keyboard. A good password might look something like this: 3j@n&j0n. Notice how the password appears to read 3jan&jon. With some creativity, you can create a more secure password by spelling common, easy-to-remember words using keyboard symbols and numbers.

Follow the password policy below as you choose a new password:

All passwords must be changed at least every six months
Passwords should never be written down, stored online, or sent in emails
Never share the password with ANYONE
The password must contain at least six characters including letters and at least one number and/or punctuation character (!@$%^, etc.)
The password must not use common words, such as words found in a dictionary (English or foreign); names of family, pets, friends, coworkers, or fantasy characters; a business name; birthdays and other personal information, such as addresses and phone numbers; word or number patterns like aaabbb, qwerty, zyxwvuts, 123321, abc123 etc.
The password cannot contain common words of four or more characters anywhere in the word. Example: If you used the word speaker to create a password such as "Speak3r," it would fail because the password would still contain the word "peak"
The password must not be any of the above spelled backward or preceded or followed by a digit or punctuation character (e.g., secret1, !secret)
If you believe your account or password has been compromised, change all passwords immediately and contact support.
Congratulations! You have successfully logged into your first website account. You should now see a screen that looks like the image below. This is the initial screen of the your account.

Activity 3: Introduction and Setup of Your Account

1. Select a Base Account. Base accounts are prestocked styles, images, pages, content, and more that will initially populate the menus and submenus of your account for the purposes of the account introduction and functionality.
Have you ever received a build-it-yourself model kit car that was already built? Probably not, but if you had, you would easily see how the car was put together, how the doors work, how the sunroof functions, how the wheels fit, where to apply paint, and more.  A base account is along those same lines.  By selecting a base account, you are able to see a "sample" of what you can do with your account. You are able to see how sample pages look and feel, how the website navigation functions, the appearance of sample product details and images, sample page titles and headlines, price sets, and more. You can then take the base account and customize it to fit your needs as you build the rest of your storefront.

2. Enter your company's name, address, and contact information in the provided fields. Fields with an asterisk (*) are required. The information you enter within these fields populates other portions of your account.
3. After you have entered all of the appropriate information, click the Begin button.  As you do so, you will be directed to the account menus and submenus (see below).

4. Looking at the overview screen of your account, you will notice three basic navigation items: Menus (arranged horizontally at the top of the page), Submenus (arranged vertically on the right side of the page), and buttons (see image above). Let's briefly review what each one does.

Menus Your account is organized into main categories and subcategories for easy retrieval and editing. Clicking a Menu accesses a main category.
Submenus Just as clicking a Menu accesses a main category, clicking a Submenu accesses a subcategory. As you navigate in your account files, you will notice that a different set of Submenus appears under each menu. Clicking a Submenu takes you to a new set of information (a subcategory) located within the main category.
Typically you will see the Help button, the Preview button, and the Done button (see above).
Help The Help button brings page-specific information to you in a popup window. Click the Help button when you want to know about the options, fields, selections, menus, etc. of the page you are working on.
Preview The Preview button allows you to see your site as if you are a visiting customer. In Preview mode you can also build your site in a point-and-click environment.
Done When you select the Done button, you will be directed to the last page in which you were working, such as a menu or submenu.
Activity 4: Navigating in Your Account

1. From the overview page, click the Pages menu (see below).
The Pages menu is now active (notice that it now has a calm blue color).

2. The Account menu, where you were previously, is now inactive (a different color than the "Active" menu, like the other menus). The submenus at the right of the screen have changed to reflect the options for this category.

3. Now click the Page Types submenu, located to the right-hand navigation column of the screen. This will open a new subcategory within the Pages menu (see below).

Notice that the Page Types submenu is now a different color than the rest of the submenus. It is the active subcategory, and the rest of the submenus are inactive.
As you navigate back and forth within your account using the Menus and Submenus or the Preview and Done buttons, you automatically save the information you enter on each page.
If you use your Internet browser’s navigation tools (like the Back, Forward, or Close buttons; see below) to navigate within your account, then any information you have entered on that page WILL NOT BE SAVED.
