Introduction

Adding a product to your account can be a very simple process, despite the many options that lie before you. Essentially, you may add products to the database one product at a time, or you can use the Import feature to add them. In this step we will illustrate the initial steps in adding a product and then briefly describe each submenu of the product.
Activity 1: Adding Products and Product Information

1. To add products to the database, select the Products menu and ensure you are in the Products submenu.
2. Ensure Standard Product is selected in the lower left-hand corner of the window and then click the Add button (see below)

3. After you click the Add button, you will see the product editing submenus (i.e. Edit, Keywords, Images, etc. see below).

The purpose of this step is to briefly describe the product options within the product submenus. For specific instructions on each submenu, click the Help button of the appropriate submenu.

Edit submenu

  Watch Submenu

On this submenu you can enter general information about the product you are editing, including a product SKU, name, summary, description, price, and sale price, and more.
Description submenu

  Watch Submenu

Here you can add a list of keywords to your products ordering page. Keywords, properly used, have the potential to improve your site's page rank in some relevancy-based search engines. Plus, keywords are also used internally by your site's search tool.
Categories submenu

  Watch Submenu

Here you can assign the product to a category. Categories are one way to organize products and make them easily accessible for your customers.
Images submenu

  Watch Submenu

This submenu allows you to select one or more images to display with the product.
Features submenu

  Watch Submenu

Here you can describe unique aspects and benefits of your product that are worth mentioning. The descriptions are usually selling points and illustrations.
Specifications submenu

  Watch Submenu

The specification submenu allows you to add technical specifics of a product; for example, its weight, dimensions, requirements, etc.
Variations submenu

  Watch Submenu

Here you may add product variations. A variation is a set of options customers have to choose from when ordering a product. For example, a website selling t-shirts might offer the same shirt in several sizes and colors. In this case, size and color would be variations of the product.
Links submenu

  Watch Submenu

This submenu allows you to display a link within the product description to another page, product, form, file, category, etc.
Inventory submenu

  Watch Submenu

Here you may add inventory control measures for this product and for each of its variation choices.
Download submenu

  Watch Submenu

This submenu allows you to add downloadable products. Customers order downloadable products similar to other products, yet when customers submit their order they are given a receipt page from which they can download the product.
HTML submenu

  Watch Submenu

The HTML submenu contains the coding for your product's item number, quantity field, variations, and ‘Add to Cart’ button. Using this code you can post a product with its ‘Add to Cart’ button on any page of your site. You can also post the product on an entirely separate website because the ‘Add to Cart’ button links directly to your website's cart.
Proceed through each product submenu, adding the appropriate information.
