Introduction
|
Creating a page is like adding the final layer of a
webpage's visual components. Think of a web page as three distinct layers: the
site design is the bottom layer, the background is the middle layer, and the
page is the top layer; all three combine to create a website "page."
For example the "Home" page has the design incorporated into it, and
you can apply a background layer and add Home page-specific elements
(as executed in Step 3); all three of these components affect how the
"Home" page looks and functions.
As you know, your account was prestocked with several
pages when you chose your base account (see Step 1). Each page is intended for a
specific purpose. You may edit and add
new elements within these pages, or you may also add completely new pages if
you choose. In this step we will look at
adding new pages to your account and editing your account’s prestocked pages.

| Activity 2: |
Editing the Page Content of Your Account
|
| |
| There are two primary methods to editing the pages of your account: Preview mode and traditional. During Step 3, you were instructed on how to add, edit, and relocate the elements on the Home page. You may find the Preview mode to be the easiest way to edit the pages of your account; nevertheless, the traditional method works just as well. |
| 1. |
Select the Pages menu, and ensure you are in the Pages submenu. |
| 2. |
Double-click the page row you wish to edit, or click (highlight) it in the page list and then click the Edit button. Doing so directs you to the Elements submenu (see below).

|
| 3. |
Within the Elements submenu you may click the Preview button to access Preview mode. This will allow you to add and edit the elements of the page (see Step 3 for more details, or click the Help button). |
| 4. |
To add an element to the page by using the traditional method, go to the Pull-down menu located near the bottom left of the page and select the element of your choice. Click the Add button. This will take you to the Edit screen of the element, where you can configure the element to meet your needs. |
| 5. |
To edit an element after it has been added to the page, simply double-click the Element row, or click (highlight) it in the elements list and click the Edit button. |
| 6. |
To delete an element, highlight it in the list and click the Delete button. |
| 7. |
When you are finished adding and editing page elements, click the Done button. This will direct you to the Pages submenu of the Pages menu. |
